How do Functional Medicine Consultations Work?

The Process

Getting started 

So that we can get familiar with all aspects of your physical and mental health, we’ll first ask you to complete a detailed nutrition and lifestyle questionnaire.

  4. Mindset
  5. Supplementation

From the information you provide, we’ll highlight your main health concerns. 

Before our first meeting, we’ll review your case to understand its individuality. 

Then together, we’ll create a plan that combines all five pillars of health for optimal wellness.

Initial consultation

The time in the initial consultation is for gathering more information. We’ll create a timeline of your life events to understand when your health began to decline and any triggering events or inputs around this. 

We’ll also discuss your goals and what you want to achieve. Then we’ll pinpoint how to move forward along with key steps to reach your health goals (including any required testing).

Post-consultation, we’ll develop initial nutrition, lifestyle and training (if required) plans for you to follow until our next meeting.

Follow up

Our first follow-up includes reviewing any test results and actions to take related to these results. We’ll discuss your progress on the initial nutrition plan and refine the plan to move you closer to your goals. We’ll adapt the nutrition, lifestyle, and training protocol to always meet your needs in later follow-ups.

We’ll continuously review your goals, ensuring the straightest and most effective path to your results.


By the end of our time working together, you’ll feel confident to continue with your plan. The changes we made to your food choices, lifestyle and movement should fit seamlessly and sustainably into your life. 

Nutritional therapy is not about a ‘diet’, but instead, a way of eating that becomes a lifestyle choice – a choice you make to live a life of optimal health.


The timeframe is approximately three months. Consultations are three to four weeks apart for you to implement changes and for any supplements and nutrients to take effect.

Note: Built into this package is a significant amount of time behind the scenes for research and work on your case. We use this time to understand the uniqueness of your case, dig deep into test results, and build individualised, detailed and targeted approaches.

  • Unlimited email and messaging support between sessions, so you never have to wait to get an answer to any questions

General consultations

We also offer one-hour consultations for people who do not require a complete package or ongoing support but would like some insight and direction. You can use this hour to go through any questions related to health issues, nutrition, training, supplementation or business in the Health and Fitness industry.
